The Children’s Discovery Center will engage children with hands-on learning experiences that spark imagination and curiosity, enhance creativity, develop problem-solving skills and teach the basics of health and wellness. We will empower adult visitors with activities and events that enable them to play with children and learn about the ingredients that make a healthy child, a healthy household and a healthy community. The center will be a beacon for young families considering a place to live and work.
This one-of-a-kind destination will include renovation of the existing Plymouth Building to create a 35,000 square foot space with 15 – 18 core exhibits, a rooftop exploratorium, birth to 18-month-old space, gift shop and concessions. Interactive exhibits will include:

The themes of health and wellness, pride of place and a bright future will guide all experience throughout the discovery center.
Today, we celebrate a collective investment by Buchanan County, the City of St. Joseph, Mosaic Life Care and the Foundation as we work to bring a best-in-class Children’s Discovery Center to downtown St. Joseph.
Construction kicked-off November 2022. Project completion will take 18 to 20 months.
