Summer STEAM Camps

Mosaic Life Care Foundation’s emPowerU STEAM Camps are designed to create and develop an interest in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. All sessions feature fun, hands-on activities led by professionally trained facilitators. Camp descriptions are below.

These half-day camps are offered at emPowerU in St. Joseph and Think Ahead Works in King City.  The morning session is from 9 am-Noon, and the afternoon session is from 12:30-3:30 pm.

STEAM Camp Offerings

All summer STEAM Camps listed below are $125 per week.

Coding Drones

Students will experience the thrill of flight and accomplishment as they learn to program Parrot drones using TYNKER’s intuitive visual coding. They will pilot drones through extreme maneuvers, grasp objects and fly aerial combat missions all through the power of code. Watch your child’s confidence soar as they learn to bridge the gap from the digital to the physical world. Open to students entering grades 5-8.

LEGO® EV3 Robotics Space Challenge

LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 camps are a hands-on, fun way to engage students in the world of robotics. Students are provided the resources to design, build and program their creations which helps them develop essential skills such as creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication. Add-on kits are available for experienced EV3 campers to enable them to develop even more amazing robots. Open to students entering grades 6-8.

LEGO® Powered Machines & Mechanisms

Our LEGO® Powered Machines & Mechanisms camps enable students to work as young scientists, engineers and designers by providing them with tools and tasks that engage them in real-world investigations and problem-solving. They design and make models to solve problems, observe the behaviors of these models, reflect and redesign, record and present their findings. From simple creations to complex machines, these camps are fun and challenging. Open to students entering grades 3-5.

LEGO® WeDo 2.0 Robotics

Whether you want to introduce your student to the world of robotics or have a student with more advanced abilities, these LEGO® WeDo robotics camps remain a favorite of our younger students. Featuring a diverse curriculum that allows students to explore a variety of concepts, these camps foster the development of mathematics, engineering, creativity and collaboration. Your students are sure to enjoy these challenging yet rewarding camps. Open to students entering grades 3-5.

Passage to Planet ROG

Passage to Planet ROG, developed by the National Inventors Hall of Fame, engages children in an exciting journey through space to a distant planet. Through a series of challenging missions, from establishing an outpost to making clay sculptures, children practice creativity, collaboration and communication as they develop solutions to explore this new place and then return home to Earth. Open to students entering grades 3-5.

TYNKER Coding and Game Design

TYNKER Coding camps empower students to create through the power of imagination. As students learn coding at their own pace, they build game worlds, design animated heroes and villains, program game controls and motion, add music and program game logic.No prior programming experience required.  Students get access to the online module for one year.

Game Design Studio-Learn to plan and design a variety of types of video games. Over the course of a week, participants will design and build 2D platformers, top-down RPGs, side scrollers, and physics-based games. Students learn a foundation of programming basics and apply them as they build a different class of games each day.  At the end of the week, show off your own original games and play them with friends and family. Open to students entering grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Animation Studio – Learn the basics of animation as you draw your own characters and bring them to life with code. You will use visual programming to control the speed and type of animation as you add animals, dragons, monsters, and avatars into your coding projects. Create a portfolio of fun projects including original animated games, cartoon strips, music videos, and interactive worlds to share with friends and family. Open to students entering grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Creative Coding Studio -Discover programming through art, music, and math. Collaborate with other campers as you plan and build amazing projects using visual programming. Create interactive greetings, experiment with sounds and musical notes, make your own comics, design characters and animate them, generate math art, and build level-based games. Open to students entering grades 3-5 and 6-8.

Virtual Reality Explorers

Virtual Reality is one of the most exciting and immersive learning technologies available. Students will be able to experience and explore a variety of topics and concepts. Whether it is visiting Mars or another outer space destination, experiencing other cultures, problem-solving in breathtaking new worlds or creating three-dimensional art, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Open to students entering grades 6-8.
