Please thoroughly review qualifying criteria for each scholarship and note that some have geographic restrictions. Apply to only those scholarships for which you qualify.

If the scholarship states the applicant MUST reside in or originate from our 31 county service region, that refers to counties listed below.

Missouri counties: Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Caldwell, Carroll, Clay, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Linn, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Platte, Ray, and Worth
Iowa counties: Decatur, Fremont, Page, Ringgold, and Taylor
Kansas counties: Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, and Nemaha
Nebraska counties: Nemaha and Richardson

Some scholarships are even more limited in their geographic eligibility. Others, such as the Patrick L. Newman Mic-O-Say, have no geographic restrictions. Be sure to check the guidelines for each opportunity.


The submission deadline for most of the scholarship applications is March 15th at noon. As the deadline varies with each opportunity, please check each one for due dates and information on submission procedures. Most completed applications should be mailed or delivered to:

(e2) education emPowers® Scholarships

The emPowerU (e2) education emPowers® Scholarship established by Mosaic Life Care Foundation provides financial assistance to past participants of emPowerU programs who are seeking post-secondary education in any field.

  • Lowell C. Kruse Healthy Choices. Healthy Lives. Scholarship

The Kruse Scholarship provides financial assistance to a first-year, full-time graduate student studying in areas leading to improved quality of life for the residents of the Mosaic Life Care service region including, but not limited to, Health Care Administration, Early Childhood Development, Not-For-Profit Management, and Educational Leadership. This scholarship is funded by Mosaic Life Care and managed by Mosaic Life Care Foundation. Application deadline is June 15th.

  • Patrick L. Newman Mic-O-Say Scholarship

The Newman Mic-O-Say Scholarship provides educational assistance to members of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. This scholarship honors a man who spent a good part of his life involved with Boy Scouts. This program is only open to members of the Pony Express Council Tribe of Mic-O-Say and is not restricted by geographic location. The applications are available year round and are due October 15th.

  • Velma Flies Anderson Scholarship*

Mrs. Anderson, a 1941 graduate of the Missouri Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, established the Velma Flies Anderson Scholarship. This scholarship emphasizes academic and clinical excellence achievements of a senior level student in an accredited RN program. Qualified candidates must be enrolled in their senior year of a registered nursing program.

  • Mary Alice Hartigan Scholarship*

Created in 1999 to honor the late Mary Alice Hartigan, friends, family and co-workers of Mrs. Hartigan partnered with Mosaic Life Care Foundation to establish this fund to serve as a tribute to her years of dedication in the profession of nursing and devotion to the field of surgical services. The Hartigan Scholarship provides support to individuals in the field of nursing and/or surgical services, with an emphasis on surgical nursing.

  • Doris R. Hines Ph.D., R.N., CETN Nursing Scholarship*

The Hines Scholarship provides financial assistance to Mosaic Life Care nurses pursuing a degree beyond the Bachelor’s level. This scholarship was established through Mosaic Life Care Foundation in 1997 by friends and family of the late Dr. Hines to honor a lifetime of excellence in nursing practice.

The MLC Hospice Scholarship provides financial assistance for those pursuing healthcare educational opportunities by developing their knowledge and skills toward a career that will improve the care persons receive as they near the end of life.

  • Dr. William and Mrs. Muriel Redmond Scholarship*

The Redmond Scholarship provides assistance for those pursuing education opportunities toward a health related field (clinical or patient care) with a desire to serve their community. This scholarship serves as a tribute to the late Dr. William and Mrs. Muriel Redmond. Qualified applicants must reside within the Missouri counties of Andrew, Buchanan, Clinton and DeKalb.

  • Mary Ann Reinert Scholarship*

The Reinert Scholarship provides support to individuals pursuing health care education and training and especially those with an interest in surgical nursing and/or services. This scholarship primarily focuses on educational opportunities for those preparing for surgical nursing or furthering skills of persons already working in these areas.

  • Bill and Mary Russell Health Care Scholarship*

Voiture 130 of the 40 & 8 and Mosaic Life Care Foundation created a scholarship program as a tribute to the late Bill and Mary Russell. This scholarship provides financial assistance for those pursuing educational opportunities toward a career in nursing or a health care field. This is a joint scholarship awarded by Mosaic Life Care Foundation and Voiture 130 of the 40 & 8.
