Foundation Establishes Health Care Workforce Development Scholarship

Mosaic Life Care Foundation has established a new health care workforce development scholarship available for regional high school students.

The $1,500 renewable scholarship provides financial assistance to graduating high school seniors from the region pursuing a health care study area. Examples include, but are not limited to: nursing, respiratory therapy, medical lab scientist, surgical technologist, radiologic technologist, occupational therapy and physical therapy.

Mosaic Life Care Foundation President, Julie Gaddie, PhD, said the Foundation appreciates the opportunity to offer this scholarship to help develop the future workforce of health care professionals.

“Part of the Foundation’s mission is to ensure exceptional health care is available right here in our region, for generations to come,” Gaddie said. “Establishing this scholarship allows us to help those students who are interested in a career in health care.”

The scholarship is available to high school seniors accepted and enrolled full-time in a post-secondary education program (technical school, career center, community college or university). Katie Ashley, MPH, BSN, RN, Mosaic Life Care manager of clinical learning and development, said this scholarship helps introduce high school students to the many career opportunities in health care.

“This will allow students to explore other areas that may be a better fit for them or they may be passionate about,” Ashley said. “We can support students in our region and help to make the workforce stronger.”
