Foundation Receives Community Revitalization Grant for Children’s Discovery Center

Mosaic Life Care Foundation has received a $484,796 community revitalization grant toward the Children’s Discovery Center in downtown St. Joseph.

The awarded dollars from the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) will provide funds to support interactive learning experiences within the center.

Mosaic Life Care Foundation President, Julie Gaddie, PhD, said the grant funding represents the state’s commitment to St. Joseph.

“We appreciate the Missouri Department of Economic Development’s commitment to our community,” Gaddie said. “The support from local and state government has been tremendous and their belief in this project will positively impact downtown St. Joseph.”

The DED awarded a total of more than $3.7 million through the second round of the Community Revitalization Grant Program for six projects in northern Missouri.

“We are proud to invest in the future of the state’s north region through the second round of the Community Revitalization Grant Program,” says Governor Mike Parson. “As we continue to deliver on our commitment to a stronger economy for all Missourians, we look forward to the benefits this program will provide. Projects funded through these grant awards will result in improved lives, stronger communities and brighter futures in our state.”

The Community Revitalization Grant Program is funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and part of Governor Parson’s fiscal year 2023 budget plan. The funding is focused on investing in communities of all sizes to support local priorities, encourage economic recovery and build resilience for the future.

Since 2019, the Mosaic Life Care grants program has secured funds for Mosaic strategic initiatives and operational needs and community partners’ capacity to secure funding to positively influence healthy outcomes.
