Kids can spend part of their summer at Heartland Foundation’s Summer STEAM Camps engaging in fun, hands-on activities.

Heartland Foundation hosts STEAM Camps at emPowerU in St. Joseph, Missouri, and Think Ahead Works® in King City, Missouri, July 15-August 2, 2019. The Summer Camps are designed for students entering grades 3-8 to create and develop an interest in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics.

Heartland Foundation Director of Program Operations, Devran Brower, said each camp introduces a child to new creations and the hands-on activities can spark a passion within.

“If your child loves video games, they will love Tynker Camps where they create and code their own video game,” Brower said. “Our STEAM Camps are challenging, yet it is such a rewarding experience when you see the kids learning and getting excited about education.”

Heartland Foundation hosts five camps this summer, including a new camp where kids experience new technology and learning through Virtual Reality. The 2019 STEAM Camp offerings include: LEGO® WeDo 2.0, LEGO® EV3 Robotics Camps, LEGO® Powered Machines, TYNKER Coding and the newest and most exciting camp, Virtual Reality Explorers.

All sessions feature hands-on activities led by trained facilitators. Participants will build machines, vehicles, tools, contraptions and robots. They will also learn how to program their robots to perform a variety of maneuvers.

Heartland Foundation is also hosting Camp Invention this summer at emPowerU July 8-12, 2019. Camp Invention is an exciting, week-long summer adventure with lessons that explore connections between science, technology, engineering and innovation. The program hooks children and gives them high-energy, innovative fun.
