Laying the Foundation

Laying the Foundation

Kourtney Chaney has always pictured herself working in a healthcare field. She graduates from Missouri Western State University May 2021 with a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree. Kourtney was first introduced to Mosaic in 2011 and is now a nurse apprentice. She is no stranger to Mosaic, continuing her commitment as a 2020 Mosaic Life Care Foundation Nursing Fellowship recipient.

The Nursing Fellowship is a result of the Mosaic leadership and the Foundation working to attract new and innovative ideas for the community. The program helps lay the foundation for a successful nursing career. Kourtney wants to ensure patients from the region know they are in the best hands possible while she is their nurse.

“I am most excited to give back to people within our community,” Kourtney said. “I will be their advocate and I will provide holistic measures to ensure they are nursed back to health.”

The Foundation Nursing Fellowship is to not only give new graduates employment, but also help them see what it is like to be a part of our area. Kourtney is a member of the Student Nurses Association and has volunteered her time to Habitat for Humanity, Griffs Give Back, Highway Clean Up and as a nutritional services volunteer. She began her relationship with Mosaic in high school as a volunteer and grew her relationship as a certified nursing assistant through the Northwest Missouri Area Health Education Center (AHEC).

“Growing older made me realize that I never want to leave the family connections and opportunities that I have right outside of my doorstep,” Kourtney said.

The Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2021-2022 nursing fellowship. Missouri Western State University, Northwest Missouri State University and Benedictine College December 2021/May 2022 BSN graduates are eligible to apply.

Following graduation and successful obtainment of a valid nursing license to practice in the State of Missouri, each Mosaic Life Care Foundation nursing fellow will receive $10,000 in tuition reimbursement and agrees to a three-year commitment with Mosaic Life Care.

Online applications are due April 1.
